You can see from the sample to this slate floor below, that it had a thick plasticity type seal to it which had also become discoloured, damaged and looked awful after a flood. We carried out this sample on visiting to quote to judge how difficult the old seal would be to strip off and it did prove very stubborn and time consuming to strip right back to the bare stone, but looked so much better afterwards. The customer was delighted that we could improve on her floors so much and instructed us to do the work.
This slate floor cleaning and sealing in Bicester wasn’t an easy job but was a very rewarding one to see the final results. After stripping back the floors as best as possible (it wasnt possible to remove every last bit of old seal especially where ingrained in the grout lines), we deep cleaned and neutralised the bare floor before finishing with several coats of a natural stone sealer which enhanced the colours and gave a nice sheen to the floor as per the customers preference. This also assists with daily maintenance making it easier to mop clean with the appropriate floor cleaner.
